Dennis Joseph Hynes' Obituary
Dennis J. Hynes died peacefully on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, after a long illness.
He leaves behind his loving wife, lifelong friend, advocate, and devoted caretaker of 68 years, Janet (Booth), along with their children and spouses, Pamela and Patrick Fahey, Stephen and Dave Kulvete, and Paula and Scott Rushia, as well as seven lucky grandchildren, Alison, Laura, Matthew, Christopher, Meghan, Ryan, and Sara.
Born in Lawrence, MA, on October 1, 1928, he was the son of Dennis and Catherine Hynes and brother to the late Margaret Edwards and John Hynes. He is survived by his loving sister, Mary Cook.
Dennis graduated from Central Catholic High School, served in the Army, and went on to become a supervisor at Western Electric, where he spent his career until his retirement in 1987.
His greatest joy was spending time with his beloved family and cherished friends. He will be remembered by many for his love of walking wherever he happened to be, golfing (including one famous hole in one!), creating countless special memories on vacations at Salisbury Beach, Cape Cod, and Naples, FL, and teaching his children and grandchildren how to bravely float over even the most daunting of ocean waves.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 11 AM at Saint Monica’s Parish, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be privately held. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution to Alzheimer’s Foundation, 166 S River Road, Suite 210, Bedford, NH 03110. The Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home is proud to serve the Hynes family.
