Debra "Debbie" A. Fogarty's Obituary
Debra "Debbie" A. (Murray) Fogarty, of Haverhill, MA, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 9th after a short, courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Richard "Dick" Fogarty with whom she shared 42 years of her life.
Debbie was the loving daughter of the late Raymond and Minnie (Coco) Murray. She grew up in Methuen and attended Methuen public schools, graduating from Tenney High School in 1972. She worked at Triad for a number of years before becoming a quality manager at Digital Equipment Corporation. For a period of time, she also owned and operated Mal's Diner in Lawrence, MA where she enjoyed running a business, cooking and interacting with customers.
Debbie enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her nephew, nieces and their children. In the summer months, you could find her in the sun, relaxing by the pool or striper fishing with Dick on their boat. Both she and Dick enjoyed travelling to various destinations such as Aruba, the Bahamas, and the many places Dick's Navy reunions brought them. Each year they looked forward to vacationing in Mexico where they made many friends over the course of their 30 year tradition. Debbie also looked forward to trips to Foxwoods where she always had luck on the slot machines. For many years her Saturday tradition was making pizza and playing 45s with family and she always hosted a memorable Christmas Eve. Her other hobbies included crocheting, baking, cooking and sharing new recipes with her loved ones.
In addition to her devoted husband, Dick, she will be deeply missed by her stepson, Glenn Fogarty; stepdaughter-in-law, Andrea Fogarty; grandson, Ryan Fogarty; sister, Theresa (Murray) Clement and her husband Charles; brother, Nicholas Murray and his wife Marie; brother-in-law, James "Butch" Fogarty and his wife Marilyn; brother-in-law, Robert "Bob" Fogarty and his wife Leslie; sister-in-law, Ann Dewhurst and her husband Ed Spear; nephew, Charlie Clement and his wife Jodi; niece, Amanda Martin; and niece, Maryann Cash and her husband Ricky. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Dick would like to thank the nurses on the 5th floor of the Hamlet Building at Lawrence General Hospital, who were true angels, for their exceptional care and all of the doctors and staff they worked with the last few weeks.
