Deborah Ann Cianelli's Obituary
Deborah Ann (Hancock) Cianelli, 71, of Methuen, Massachusetts, passed away on March 23, 2026.
Debbie Cianelli was born on May 8, 1954, in Lynn, MA to Louise and Lawrence Hancock. Debbie grew up in Lynn before later moving to Somerville, where she continued to build the foundation of her life. She attended Northeastern Junior High School and went on to attend Somerville High School, forming lasting memories and friendships during her school years.
Debbie was a devoted homemaker who poured her heart and energy into raising her three children. She created a loving home filled with wholesome, homecooked meals and endless encouragement. Debbie took great pride in ensuring her children were active and wellrounded, supporting their involvement in sports and the arts and cheering them on every step of the way. Later in life, she brought that same care and dedication to her work cleaning homes for a select group of families, whom she always treated not as clients, but as cherished members of her extended family.
She had the rare joy of growing up alongside her beloved husband, Arthur. From the very beginning, he was the yin to her yang, the AC to her DC—quite literally. They first met in grammar school, where Debbie immediately developed a crush that would stand the test of time. By high school, Arthur could often be found carrying her books home, a small gesture that spoke volumes about the care they shared. Together, they built a beautiful life and a loving family grounded in devotion, partnership, and enduring love.
Debbie found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially time spent with her family. She loved days at the beach and relaxing by the pool surrounded by those she cherished most. In her younger years, she delighted in hiking and camping with her family, creating memories rooted in togetherness and the outdoors. Debbie had a deep love for cooking and took great happiness in preparing meals that brought her family to the table. In quieter moments, she enjoyed playing solitaire and card games, and she found comfort unwinding with her favorite book or “mom movie” on the Hallmark Channel.
Debbie Cianelli is survived by her husband of 53 years, Arthur Cianelli; her children and their spouses, Amie Shine, Aaron and Katy Cianelli, and Jaison and Vindhya Cianelli; and her grandchildren, Asher Cianelli, Alyssa Shine, Joel Shine, Daniella Shine, Dhruva Cianelli, and Julah Cianelli. She is also survived by Lauren Brent, whom she cherished as a daughter, as well as her father, Lawrence Hancock, and her sister, Susan Hall.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Louise Hancock; her mother- and father-in-law, Irma and Aldo Cianelli; and her brother-in-law, Robert Cianelli.
Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Debbie’s life during calling hours from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Methuen Family Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen, MA. A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church, 217 Main Street, Haverhill at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, 130 N. Lowell Street in Methuen.
