David W. Currier's Obituary
After a weekend enjoying well-spent time with his family, David Winthrop Currier, 74, of Lawrence, MA, passed away in the early hours of November 17, 2025, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center following unexpected health complications.
Born on Thursday, August 30, 1951, in Newburyport, MA to the late Rowland Jr. and Lucy (Houldsworth) Currier, David spent his life devoted to his family and to his love for music, cooking, and the beach. Embodying the essence of what it meant to be a life-long learner, David was an avid reader who also enjoyed documentaries, old cowboy shows, and jokes that he eagerly shared with his family - including his famous tale of how to conserve toilet paper in the military.
While David worked in a variety of industries throughout his life, his work as a musician and chef were his true passions. His passion for music began when he was around 15-16 years old and lasted up until the time of his passing. He performed in many bands both in his youth and his senior - most recently in Hoi Polloi. If he wasn’t performing, he was recording. His former Methuen home was fully-equipped with his own recording studio where he recorded many songs, including “She Sees Angels” inspired by his granddaughter, Kalli.
In addition to his love of music, David’s family was the most important thing in his life. When his children were young, family time was made a priority, enjoying regular family vacations to Florida or spending every Sunday at his parents’ home for coffee and donuts - a tradition that he shared with his own grandchildren. More recently, David looked forward to his weekly cribbage dates with his son, Justin, and his FaceTime calls with his daughter, Devin. He will always be remembered as a parent/grandparent who was always there for his children and grandchildren - both physically and emotionally.
David leaves his beloved wife of 31 years, Denise (Fontaine) Currier, with whom he’s shared many adventures since 1994. If they weren’t driving their RV down to Lover’s Key to walk the beach in Florida, you could most certainly find them enjoying clams for lunch at Park Lunch in Newburyport (not a paid sponsorship!).
In addition to his wife, David is survived by his children: Devin McCarthy, Justin Currier, Stacy Andrade and her husband, Mario, and Joseph Kaczynski and his wife, Ashley. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Tyler Andrade and his fiancé, Nicolas Troisi, Hayley Andrade and her fiancée, Lauren McDonough, Codey Kaczynski, Kalli Kaczynski, Colin McCarthy, Aiden Currier, Ella Hayes, Liam McCarthy, Niveah Currier, Dylan McCarthy, and Jacob Currier. David is also survived by nieces and nephews, including Joshua Currier.
In addition to his parents, David is predeceased by brother, Rowland “Ron” Currier III.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Friday, November 21, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Methuen Family Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours, beginning promptly at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his wife, Denise’s ongoing cancer treatment as she continues to battle metastatic colon cancer (https://gofund.me/98add2ce4).
The Methuen Family Funeral Home is honored to serve the Currier family during this difficult time.
