I tried to tell you many times. I tried to write a note to say a few things I never had the guts to say out loud.
He wasn’t the mushy type (and with his hearing and eyesight, I wasn’t sure he’d read it anyway!), but I hope in his own way he knew.
What I wanted to say is how grateful I am for the many gifts he brought into my life, especially the gift of my husband, Dale Jr. We've been married 42 years, and I see so much of his dad in him, especially the strong work ethic he instilled. (Which, let’s be honest, has been both a blessing and a curse!) 😉 But it’s that work ethic that’s helped Dale Jr. be such an amazing husband, father, and provider for our family, and I’m thankful for that every single day.
Dale Sr. was a wonderful grandfather to our boys, who grew up learning about hard work and responsibility while working alongside him at Archer Auto. Now, watching our grandkids step into the family business, the one he started back in 1983 with Jr., it’s clear that his legacy is not only alive but thriving. Three generations later, the values he lived by continue to shape our family.
I’m also glad we had some special time together over the past few months, especially our time in Michigan with the family. It meant a lot to see him surrounded by the people and places he loved.
Thank you, Dale, for everything. You will be missed.
