Claire L. Young's Obituary
Claire L. (Blodgett) Young, age 96 of Methuen passed away peacefully on August 16, 2019. Claire was born in Methuen on March 5, 1923 to the late Walter and Ada (Howarth) Blodgett. Claire was a graduate of Edward F. Searles High School, Class of 1940 and a graduate of Fitchburg State University where she received a degree in teaching. Claire was a longtime teacher at Greater Lawrence Technical School, where she taught home economics. She was very active with the Methuen Senior Center and participated regularly with the Methuen Community Kindergarten Reading Group. Claire enjoyed dressmaking, sewing, and gardening. She was a very talented pianist. Claire will be remembered as a very hard working and devoted single mother.
Claire was the devoted mother of Linda Sahovey and her husband Paul, Nancy Razzetti and her husband Bert, Christine Young, and Stephen Young Jr. She was the loving grandmother of Olivia Sahovey, Andrea Sahovey, Brian Razzetti, and Scott Razzetti.
Friends and guests are invited to call on Sunday, September 22, 2019 from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A Memorial Service will be held in Claire’s memory immediately following calling hours, beginning promptly at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Per the request of Claire’s family, please wear colorful clothing for the wake and memorial service.
