Claire McDonald's Obituary
Claire McDonald, 84, of Hampton Beach, NH, passed away on June 30th, 2018 at the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Methuen.
Claire was born in Lawrence, daughter of the late Frank and Marion (Ayer) Champi. She worked as a clerk for the IRS until her retirement and also owned and operated “Old McDonald’s Beach Store” in Hampton, NH with her husband. In her free time she enjoyed spending time at the beach, trips to Foxwoods and her greatest love was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as “Nana at the beach,” or “Beach Nana.”
Claire is predeceased by her husband, George McDonald, a son, James McDonald and two sisters, Mary McAvoy and Frances Doyle. She leaves her children, Joyce Shannon and husband Paul of Methuen and John McDonald and wife Susan of Methuen, grandchildren, Joseph and Michael Shannon, Kevin and Patrick McDonald, Katherine Foster, and Matthew, Kelly and Jaimie McDonald, 11 great-grandchildren, her sister Carol Veit, brother in law, John McAvoy Sr., and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call on Monday, July 9th from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am at St. Monica’s Church, Methuen. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Nevins Nursing and Rehab for their kind and supportive care in the last days of mom’s life.
