Cecelia Hatem's Obituary
Cecelia Claire Hatem, 100, of Methuen, sadly passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025, at the Nevins Nursing Home in Methuen.
Cecelia was born on November 20, 1924, in Lawrence, and was the daughter of the late Solomon and Josephine (Naman) Hatem. She grew up and lived for over 60 years in her family home on Willoughby Street in Lawrence, MA. Cecelia worked for over 30 years as a manager at the Internal Revenue Service. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Anthony Maronite Church in Lawrence, MA.
Cecelia, who was also known as Cee or Auntie Cee, was loved dearly by her family and all who met her. She was always happy, caring, outgoing, and always smiling. She was especially known for her great sense of humor and generosity. Cecelia made friends with everyone she met. She loved golf, enjoyed traveling and looked forward to Tuesday nights at the jazz club with her sister, Babe. Cecelia’s favorite memories were spending time with family and friends around her kitchen table on Willoughby Street.
Cecelia is survived by her sister and best friend, Bernice “Babe” Spencer of Methuen; her brother, Wallace Hatem and his wife, Theresa Hatem of Lawrence; several nieces and nephews; and grandnieces and grandnephews whom she loved dearly. Cecelia was preceded in death by her siblings, Rose Hatem, Ida Garant, Naja Arrajj, William Hatem, John Hatem, and Ernie Hatem.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend funeral services at the Methuen Family Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen, MA at 11:30 AM on Wednesday October 22, 2025. Burial to follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in Methuen. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to St. Anthony’s Maronite Church 145 Amesbury Street Lawrence, MA 01841.
