Betty J. Spindler's Obituary
Betty J. (Russell) Spindler, 89, of Goodyear, AZ, formerly of Methuen, MA, passed away at home on March 11, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 30, 1928, to her hardworking parents in Lowell, the late Charles and Oberline (Thifault) Russell, Betty attended Lowell High School and married her sweetheart, Arthur, who was in the Navy until 1950. They settled in Methuen to raise their family. She was very talented in arts, crafts and painting, having her pen and ink drawings set on display at the Nevins Library in Methuen in the 1990’s. She loved the movies and reading. Betty was always smiling and loved animals of all sorts. She touched many lives in Methuen and in Arizona where she lived for 12 years with her daughter and many new friends. She was loved and cherished, and will be greatly missed.
Betty is survived by her three beloved children: her son John and his wife, Marie; her son William and his wife, Mercedes; and her daughter, Susan Wobser. She was the proud grandmother to her seven grandchildren: Eric, Andrew, Maritza, Alison, Brad, Christine, and Kevin. Betty was also the great-grandmother of seven. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur, with whom she celebrated 56 years of marriage; her brother Richard Russell; and her sister Ruth Dussault.
Visitation for Betty will be on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, from 4-7 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at 11 AM at the funeral home. Interment to follow at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 29 Barker St, Lawrence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty’s memory to the Nevins MSPCA, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
