Berthier Dube's Obituary
Berthier Dube, 81, of Methuen, MA, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 8th, 2023 surrounded by his family.
Berthier “Bert” was born in St. Jean de Lalande, Quebec, Canada. At the age of 20, Bert moved to the United States where he started his first job working in the textile mills. Soon after, he learned the trade of finished carpentry and worked for Daher Companies for over 25 years. Bert was an opportunist who took a chance on investment properties and became his own American Dream success story. He rooted himself here in Massachusetts and became a US Citizen in 1993.
To know Bert was to love Bert. He was the center of every joke and loved to make people laugh. He lived by his motto “laughter is the best medicine.” Bert enjoyed vacationing on cruises with his wife, Danielle, traveling to Canada to visit his family, and fishing for trout in the babbling brooks. His greatest joy was to be surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and is little dog, TouTou. His love for them was palpable.
Bert is predeceased by his parents, Herve and Marieanne (Pelletier) Dube; and his brother, Eddy Dube.
Bert will be deeply missed by his wife of 58 years, Danielle Dube, ;his daughter, Mona Leclerc and her husband, Carl; his son, Harold Dube and his wife, Staci; his son, Steven Dube and his wife, Christine; and his 8 grandchildren, Alexa Leclerc Malagodi and her husband, Michael, Kaileigh DelGiudice, and her husband, TJ, Evan Leclerc, Austin Brown, Gage Dube, Colin Dube, Ariana Dube, Aaron Dube; and 3 great-grandchildren. Bert also leaves behind his four sisters, Yvonne Dube, Agathe Dube and her husband, Guy, Rachelle Dube, Monique Levesque and her husband, Gilles, all of Canada; brother, Gilbert Dube and his partner, Julie Johnson; and his sister-in-law, Simone Caron Dube. Bert also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and guest will honor and celebrate Berthier’s life by gathering for his calling hours from 4 – 8 PM on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Thursday, September 14th at St. Monica Church, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Donations in Bert’s memory may be made to Brigham and Women’s Hospital, 75 Francis Street, Boston, MA 02115, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA 02215, or High Pointe House in Haverhill, MA .
