Barbara A. Teutonico's Obituary
Methuen – Barbara A. (Marggraf) Teutonico, 89 of Methuen, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at Mary Immaculate Nursing & Restorative Center in Lawrence after battling Covid 19. She was the beloved wife of the late John W. Teutonico, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage.
Born in Methuen on January 17, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Margaret (Gilcreast) Marggraf. She graduated from the Edward F. Searles High School in Methuen, class of 1949 and was active in planning the class reunions. She also attended McIntosh Business School in Boston. Her first job was Cherry and Web in Lawrence where she met the most handsome love of her life. Barbara and John had 57 wonderful years together and enjoyed cruises to Bermuda and other trips with their many friends after their retirement. Barbara also worked at Almys Department Store in Methuen until her retirement in the early 1990’s. She loved volunteering at Holy Family gift shop for many years. She was a communicant of St. Monica’s parish in Methuen, a Member of St. Monica’s Ladies Sodality and a member of the Northern Essex Women’s Scholarship Committee. She especially loved spending time with her family including her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Cooking special meals, spending time at the beach and cookouts in the backyard were especially fun times. She was always happy and friendly and was the one to make everyone laugh.
Barbara will be deeply missed by her daughter, Jean Pierce and her husband, William of Methuen; her brother, Paul Marggraf of Methuen; 4 grandchildren, Beth Hellman and her husband, Brian, Katie L. Pierce, Matthew Croteau, and his wife, Emily, and Lindsay Croteau and her fiancé, Joseph; son-in-law, Steve Croteau; 3 great grandchildren, Thomas, Patrick, and Sean Hellman; brother-in-law, William O’Donnell, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends. She was predeceased by her daughter, Susan Croteau in 2012, her son, Brian Teutonico in January 2020, her brother, Fr. Brian (Richard) Marggraf, her sister, Margaret O’Donnell and her sister-in-law, Jeanne Marggraf.
