Arlene M. (Stubbs) King's Obituary
Arlene M. (Stubbs) King, 103, of Kittery ME, formerly of Methuen and North Andover MA and York, ME, passed away peacefully at the Durgin Pines Nursing in Kittery ME on Wednesday December 2nd. She was born in Barre MA on October 20, 1912 and later moved to Methuen where she attended school, graduating from Edward F. Searles High School.
Arlene worked as a food server at the lunch counter at Woolworth?s Department Store in Lawrence, MA for 19 years. In her free time she enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and sewing clothes for herself and her children. She made her daughter Mary Lou?s wedding gown. Arlene loved vacationing at Salisbury Beach with her husband and children and later with their grandchildren. She also loved to sing while doing household chores. She taught her children many wonderful songs, creating fond memories of singing with her family at home and in the car. Prior to moving from Methuen to North Andover, Arlene and her late husband Walter spent a lifetime?s passion helping St Monica?s Church in whatever capacity the Church needed.
Arlene is the widow of the late Walter King and is survived by daughters Mary Lou Zahn of Limington ME, Jacqueline Pitchford of Charleston WV, Monica Hurcombe and her husband Richard of York ME, 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 7 great- great grandchildren. Besides her husband, Arlene is also predeceased by her sisters Pearl Handley and Rita Hatfield, a son James E. King, a grandson John Zahn, great grandson Zachary Scott
and sons- in- law Robert Zahn and Charles Pitchford.
Arlene?s family would like to thank the staff at Durgin Pines for their Tender Loving Care and compassion over the past 6 years.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Thursday December 10th from 9-10:30 AM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday December 10th at 11 AM at St Monica?s Church in Methuen followed by burial at Elmwood Cemetery also in Methuen. The Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home is honored to serve the King family.
