Angela McHugh's Obituary
Andover – Angela (Hahn) McHugh, 75, of Andover, passed away on Monday, February 3rd 2020 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Patrick McHugh of Inver, Co Donegal, Ireland.
Born in London, England on July 4th 1944, she was the only child of the late George Frederick Hahn and Agnes (Davies) Sims. Angela was a teacher in Nigeria for over thirty years until her retirement.
Angela had a rich and full life. She traveled all over the world and lived in Europe, Africa, and North America, having bravely moved to the United States at the age of 72!
Angela adored orchestral music and played piano, encouraging her grandchildren to learn to play.
In her prime she enjoyed tennis and golf, and she loved playing bridge. In the last few years in Andover, Angela made many new friends at the Andover Senior Center where she would play bridge every Thursday. She was always keen to teach the game to others and her grand-daughter, Verity Joy, wants to continue the hobby!
Angela will be deeply missed. She is survived by her daughter Georgie and her husband, Kim, of England, her daughter Bernie and her husband, Phil, of England, and her daughter Miranda and her husband, Peter, of Andover; nine grandchildren, Patrick, Olivia, George, Ellen, Mary-Lou, Douglas, Yasmin, Verity Joy, and Penelope; and her first great-grandchild, Evelyn-Rose.
She was a kind and loving person, with a big heart and a cheeky sense of humour. She made many friends in Andover and around the world, and will always be remembered with fondness, and likely a chuckle!
Family and friends gathered to honor and celebrate Angela’s life Wednesday, February 5th 2020 at Christ Church, Andover, MA. She was cremated at Arborside Crematory in Windham New Hampshire.
The funeral service will take place at Mountcharles Parish Church, Donegal, Ireland on Friday, February 21st at 12 noon, where her ashes will be interred with her husband, Patrick McHugh, who passed in 2014. A reception, hosted by the family, will follow the service at Mill Park Hotel, Donegal at 3pm.
In remembrance of Angela and in lieu of flowers, a garden will be planted at the family home in Andover, where Angela lived for three happy years.
The Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen, MA is honored to serve the McHugh family.
