Andrew J. Pare's Obituary
Methuen, MA ? Andrew J. Pare, 92, died Monday January 12, 2009 at the Nevin?s Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre.
Born April 15, 1916 in East Broughton, Province of Quebec, Canada, the son of Joseph and Adelia (Labrecque) Pare at the age of five he along with his parents came to this country where he became a Lawrence native. In 1949 he and his family moved to Methuen where he built his own home.
For many years Andrew had been employed as a carpenter at Doyle Lumber of Andover. He also worked with his son at James R. Pare Construction Co.
During World War II Mr. Pare served his country in the United States Army Corp of Engineers and served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with Three Bronze Stars before being honorably discharged at wars end as Sargeant Tec 5.
A charter member of Methuen Council # 4027 K of C he enjoyed working with wood making doll houses for his granddaughter and covered bridges for his grandsons and greatgrandsons. He also enjoyed gardening.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend Eva D. (Lassonde) Pare. Survivors include one daughter Patricia L. Mann of Manchester, NH, and one son James R. and his wife Cheryl Pare of Windham, NH, two brothers Roland of Pare of Methuen and Gerard Pare, of Lowell, MA, four grandchildren James, Thomas and Elizabeth Mann and Michael Pare, five greatgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
At the families request funeral services and burial will be private.
He spent the last 20 months of his life at the Nevins Nursing Home where he was shown uncommon compassion, love, and care by his many friends on floor 2B.
Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
