Americo A. Petteruti's Obituary
Methuen, Ma. ? Americo A. Petteruti, 91 yrs died Saturday March 30, 2013 at the Lawrence General Hospital surrounded by his caring family.
Mr. Petteruti was born July 5, 1921 in Lawrence, Ma.
He was the son of Antonio and Guiseppina (Supina) Petteruti and a graduate of Lawrence High School class of ?1939".
For many years Americo was employed as a Layout/Estimator with Lawrence Packaging Company before his retirement.
He was a resident of Methuen for 50 years. He was the first WW II veteran to enlist in Lowell, Ma.
During World War ll Americo served his country in the United States Army enlisting in 1940 before his honorable discharge in 1945 at wars end. In 1963 he joined the Naval Reserves and retired in 1979.
Mr. Petteruti was a Gold Member of the Son?s of Italy Chapter 902 of Lawrence and now Methuen.
According to his caring family he was a former member of the Methuen Senior Citizens, was intrigued in the local history of Lawrence, was considered to be the family handy man as well as the consummate grandfather.
Americo is survived by his wife of 65 years, Josephine N. (Garofalo) Petteruti and children; Anthony and his wife Linda Petteruti of Salem, NH, Annmarie and husband Keith Morse of Greensboro, North Carolina, Joyce and her husband Sebastian Faro of Methuen, his sister Justina Camasso, grandchildren Anita, Tina, Holly, Keith, Jr., James, Anthony, and Analisa three greatgrandchildren Vincenzo, Jasmyn, and Jeremy and many nieces and nephews.
Americo was predeceased by his brother Michael Petteruti.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday morning at 9 o?clock in Saint Monica?s Church in Methuen with burial to follow in Bellevue Cemetery of Lawrence.
Friends will be warmly received on Thursday at 4-8 p.m. from the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
