Alphonse J. Thompson's Obituary
Alphonse “Al” J. Thompson, 89, of Salem, NH passed away peacefully on August 18, 2024 at SalemHaven Nursing Home, in Salem, NH.
Alphonse was born in Lawrence, MA, ON July 30, 1935 and was the son of the late Alphonse and Mary Thompson.
Al was raised in Lawrence and attended Central Catholic High School. He later served in the US Navy and was stationed in Washington, DC. After his discharge from the Navy he went on to work for Bay State Gas and Electric Co and later retired after 40 years of service.
Alphonse was an active member of Merrimack Valley Country Club in Methuen, MA for 50 plus years and wintered every year in Florida with his wife and best friend Maureen (Bunny) Thompson for 20 plus year’s and loved spending his time there, golfing, fishing, shrimping, race track, dining out with friends, and enjoying time on the beach.
He is survived by his wife, Maureen (Schiavone) Thompson, children, brothers and grandchildren. His wife would like to acknowledge the excellent care he received while at SalemHaven Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be private.
