Allison P. Hawkes' Obituary
Methuen – Allison P. Hawkes, 26 of Methuen, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, after a 20 year battle with cancer.
Allison was born in Lawrence on December 29, 1993. She graduated from Methuen High School, class of 2012. She received her bachelor of science from Wheelock College in Boston in 2017 and her master’s degree in education from Merrimack College in North Andover in 2019. She worked as a substitute teacher and Title I reading tutor in Methuen Public Schools, most recently at the Tenney Grammar School. She also worked in admin at the Merrimack Valley YMCA in Lawrence and as camp director at Camp Otter in Salem, NH during the summers.
Allison had a spirit for adventure. She enjoyed traveling and seeing new places and countries, most recently Ireland and Peru. She spent a summer session at Cambridge College in London and joined service trips to New Orleans and Northern Ireland as an undergraduate. She was a captain on the Methuen High Rangers Swim Team and worked at Rangerland Pre-School. Her love of children led her to study early childhood education and her dream was to have her own classroom.
Allison will be deeply missed by her mother, Christen Hawkes, and her partner, Richard Carney, of Hampton, NH; her father, Gavin Hawkes, of Andover; her brother, Jonathan Ivor Hawkes, of Andover; her maternal grandparents, Robert and Gretchen Wescott, of Andover; and her paternal grandmother, Pamela Hawkes Doyle, of Florida.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Allison’s life by gathering for her calling hours on Friday, December 11, 2020 from 3 – 7 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Her funeral service will take place at 7 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, face masks will be required at the funeral home, and social distancing must be followed. If you have a health or other underlying concern, please do not attend. Allison’s family will understand and respect your decision.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Lucy’s Love Bus, 21 Water Street, Unit 11, Amesbury, MA 01913. For anyone sending flowers, please keep in mind Allison did not like lilies. The Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home is honored to serve the Hawkes family.
