Alice M. (Chase) Gallagher's Obituary
Alice M. (Chase) Gallagher, 84, longtime resident of Methuen, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2020 at Sutton Hill Nursing Center in North Andover. Born in Boston on April 15, 1936, she attended St. Patrick’s High School graduating with the Class of 1954. Alice was affectionately known as “Giggles” in high school to those she adored and continued to make people laugh throughout her life (mischievous was an understatement). With a smile and a contagious laughter that would enlighten any room, she had a fondness for the many pleasures in life. Alice loved to entertain for her family and friends especially at the holidays. She knew how to throw a fabulous party. Friends, neighbors and family would always look forward to her elaborate themed annual pool party, from Christmas in July, Country and Western to Tropical Island Gambling Party she would make it happen along with making sure everyone had a great time and was well fed. Alice worked for many years as a telephone operator and drafter for New England Telephone & Telegraph and later in life as a telephone operator at Agfa Corporation. Alice was the beloved matriarch of her family who enjoyed traveling with family and friends, especially to Sanibel Island. She touched many lives in many different circles and she will be loved, cherished and missed by all.
Alice is survived by her three adoring children; her daughter Mary Beth Misserville and her husband Richard, her son John J. Gallagher Jr and his wife Angela, her daughter Amy Carlezon, and her son-in-law Rich Carlezon. She was the proud grandmother to Richard, Kelly and Nicholas, and great-grandmother to her 6 great-grandchildren. Alice is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and close friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband John (Jack) J. Gallagher, with whom she entered into wedded bliss on October 6, 1956 and was married for 45 years until his passing in 2001. Jack was the love of her life and best friend.
The family would also like to thank the Sutton Hill Nursing Center staff, especially Laura Traviglione, and Compassus Hospice team for the compassionate care provided.
