Alfred LeSage's Obituary
Alfred LeSage, 88, of Methuen, Massachusetts, passed away on February 3, 2024, after a brief illness. Alfred was born on May 27, 1935, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, to his parents, Marie Rose (Hamel) LeSage and Joseph George Plante. His father passed away during Alfred’s childhood, and his mother remarried Wilfred W. LeSage, Jr.
Alfred left school in the sixth grade to care for his mother and growing number of siblings. Throughout his life, he worked various jobs – starting at a bowling alley setting up pins, and later in a shoe factory, where he met the love of his life, Blanche LeSage. Before marrying Blanche, he joined the Marines, where he proudly served during the Korean War, receiving the National Defense Service Medal. After returning from service, he was a manager at Lawrence Made, later worked at Der-Tex, and eventually retired from Malden Mills.
Alfred was the great provider – always taking care of his wife, children, grandchildren and siblings. In his younger years, he was an avid golfer, who was well known and respected throughout the golf community in the Merrimack Valley. Throughout his life, he loved playing cards, especially cribbage and poker, and hosted many family gatherings.
Alfred is predeceased by his loving wife of 66 years, Blanche A. Pepin LeSage, and his siblings, Donat (Don) LeSage, George (Joe) LeSage, Wilfred LeSage, Wilfred (Butchie) LeSage, Rose Demers, Theresa Gaudette, and Richard LeSage.
Alfred is survived by his son, Gary LeSage, his wife, Patrice, of Sandown, New Hampshire, and their sons, Jay and Ben; his son, David LeSage, of Salisbury, Massachusetts, and his son, Wade; and his daughter, Pamela Calcagno, her husband, Michael, of Lawrence, Massachusetts, and their daughters, Victoria and Gina. Alfred is also survived by his siblings, Lorraine Hughes, Armand LeSage, Claire Feugill, James (Jimmy) LeSage, Blanche Travers, Henry LeSage, John (Jackie) LeSage, and Jeanette Rogers, and countless nieces and nephews.
