My Uncle Al was one of the kindest people I have ever known. When I was a child, I often spent my summers at my grandmother's house where he lived before his marriage to my Auntie Theresa. Uncle Al always brightened my mood by his smile and greeting me by saying "Hi Franny!"
Uncle Al would often take me to my favorite place, "A&W in Salem NH. Along the way,I would ask him several times if we were almost there, and instead of losing his temper (I was a pain in the neck) he would say, "Almost" every single time.
During my childhood and teenage years, Uncle Al would come to my parents house for Christmas Eve. Every single year, he was late. I remember looking out the window for him, and getting impatient. However, he always came with the best gifts, and he was late because he had been shopping until the stores closed. It was always a wonderful Christmas Eve with him! He loved to give his gifts and enjoy the buffet! He so enjoyed the Family and the food!
Uncle Al was also a man who could be counted on. He helped me to learn how to drive. His famous words were, " Never mind the guy behind you, just look ahead!"
Uncle Al was very helpful to my father when he was struggling with depression. He spent many mornings with him, helping him to prepare for the day. For that, I was so grateful.
Uncle Al and Uncle Jiggs were best friends. They had a special bond and it grew even stronger after my cousin Frankie was born.
I have so many memories, but suffice it to say, Uncle Al was the happiest man on earth on his wedding day and on the day his son was born.
I'll never ever forget my dear Uncle Albert, who never said a harsh word or wore a frown. I couldn't have asked for anyone better.
