Agop Arslanoglu's Obituary
Agop Arslanoglu, 88, of Methuen, MA, passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021 at his home surrounded by family. He was born in Ankara, Turkey and was the son of the late Sahak and Kayrani (Kabatci) Arslanoglu.
He worked at Polo in Lawrence as a tailor for 18 years until their closing. Agop’s hobbies included taking care of his yard, fixing cars, cooking up delicious meals for his family, most especially bringing lunch to his son at work, and being surrounded by his loved ones.
Family is the one word that truly encompasses Agop. He was a loving and devoted husband. He and his wife, Madlen, were true soul mates and best friends. Agop was also a wonderful father. Leading by example, he taught his sons about love, kindness, and respect by never speaking an unkind word about others.
Agop will be remembered as one of the good guys – a humble man, a family man, a kind and brave man, never forgetful of his roots. He enjoyed living a simple life, but anyone who sat in his presence would tell you that there was always a life lesson to be learned there. It is through those lessons and tremendous love that Agop’s memory will live on in those who had the privilege of knowing him.
He also was an avid member of the Armenian Apostolic Congregational Church at Hye Pointe in Haverhill.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his two siblings. Agop is survived by his loving wife, Madlen Arslanoglu of Methuen; sons, John Arslanoglu and his wife, Hera of CA and Sinan Arslanoglu of Andover ; and his siblngs, Nuyem Arslanoglu and Lusine Farashoglu, both of Turkey; sister-in-law, Rose Stepian of Andover; brothers-in-law, Sahak and Avedis Kucukistipanoglu, both of Methuen.
