Marguerite M. Raymond's Obituary
LAWRENCE - Marguerite M. (Kennedy) Raymond 88 died November 13, 2010 at the Mary Immaculate Nursing and Restorative Center surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Lawrence on July 10, 1922, Marguerite was the daughter of Richard F. and Bessie (York) Kennedy. She was educated in Lawrence was a 1939 graduate of St. Mary?s High School. During World War II she enlisted in the U.S. Navy after attending the United States Naval Training School at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. She served as a Storekeeper Second Class SK2 at Squantum Naval Air Station in Squantum, MA. For more than 40 years Marguerite worked as an administrator for Sears Roebuck & Co in Lawrence on Essex Street, in Methuen at the Methuen Mall and at the Rockingham Mall in Salem, NH. In addition to being an administrator, she also trained many of the corporate executives. Telegrams of congratulations came pouring in from the corporate headquarters in Chicago when she announced her retirement. She was also highly regarded by her former co-workers for her expertise and willingness to help.
She loved to read and was a proficient speed reader, also loved to travel and visited many countries. Ireland was her favorite because of her deep seated Celtic Heritage. Mostly ?Maggie? will be fondly remembered for her untiring devotion and generosity to her entire family. Her compassion, kindness, sage advice and willingness to help were unequaled. She was especially fond of time spent with grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She would spend hours reminiscing about family fun times at Hampton Beach.
Marguerite is survived by her son Richard J. Raymond and his wife Susan M. of East Hampstead, NH, two grandchildren Deborah E. O?Leary and her husband Joseph C. of Pelham, NH, David M. Raymond and his wife Catherine D. D?Ignazio of Waltham, MA; three great-grandchildren Abigail E. and Meaghan R. O?Leary and Augustus H. D?Ignazio Raymond.
She is also survived by two brothers Charles C. Kennedy of Methuen, William F. Kennedy and his wife Sheila of Methuen, a sister-in-law Barbara L. Kennedy of Haverhill, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brother John J. Kennedy and sister Frances A. Hebert.
ARRANGEMENTS: Memorials can be made to St. Jude?s Children?s Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105-1905. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00p.m. ? 8:00p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish/St. Theresa?s Church in Methuen with burial to follow in the Immaculate Conception
