George Joseph Scott's Obituary
George Joseph Scott, 72 of Salem, NH, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. He was the beloved husband of Nancy E. (Cossar), to whom he was married for 47 years.
George was born in Huntington, NY on August 13, 1951, the son of the late George A. and Selma M. (Saba) Scott and predeceased by his brother Michael W. Scott. George will be deeply missed by his wife, Nancy; his two daughters, Elizabeth Redman, her husband, Patrick, of Abington, MA and Allyson Scott of Derry, NH; his grandson, Jason; his siblings, Margaret Young and her husband, William, of Derry, NH, Ann Smith and her husband, Craig, of Methuen, Brian Scott and his wife, Marlene, of Salem, NH, and Patricia Edwards of Haverhill; sisters-in-law, Janice Scott, of Haverhill, Mayra Koenig and her husband, Mark, of San Jose, CA; brothers-in-law, Alan Cossar and his wife, Carrollin, of Georgetown, TX and Barry Cossar and his wife, Kathleen, of Haverhill; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
George graduated from Tenney Memorial High School, class of 1969, then proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He earned his associate’s degree in electronic technology at Northern Essex Community College while working for 40 years as an electronics technician in quality control at Philips in Andover. George was a communicant of St. Joseph Church and member of VFW Post 8546, both in Salem, NH. He enjoyed country line dancing and ballroom dancing with his wife, Nancy, and daughter, Allyson. He had a passion for photography that he pursued throughout his life.
Calling hours for family and friends to honor and celebrate George’s life are 4-6pm on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen, MA. A mass of Christian burial will follow on Friday at 10am at St. Joseph Church, 40 Main Street, Salem, NH. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
