Diane M. Castiglione's Obituary
Diane M. (Lanneville) Castiglione, a lifelong resident of the Merrimack Valley, departed this world on Sunday, December 17, 2023, surrounded by her family, at Lawrence General Hospital. She was the heart and soul of her family, and her passing leaves a void that can never be filled. Diane was the adored wife of Arnold “Paul” Castiglione, her partner in life for an incredible 55 years.
Born on December 9, 1945, in Lawrence to the late Albert A. and Annie A. (Lefebvre) Lanneville, Diane’s professional life included working as a CNA and Medical Records Clerk until her well-earned retirement. A parishioner at Our Lady of Good Counsel/St. Augustine Chapel in Lawrence, Diane found solace and community in her faith.
Diane had a passion for collecting owl figurines, each one holding a special place in her heart. Her love of conversation, sharp wit, and inclusive, welcoming spirit allowed her to forge deep, meaningful friendships, and she cherished every moment spent with her extended family and friends. Diane took immense pride in her role as a grandmother, joyfully boasting about her 13 grandchildren and great-granddaughter. In her leisure, Diane found joy in the simplicity of life—solving word searches and playing solitaire.
Diane leaves behind her devoted husband, Paul, and their five children: Wendy Owen and her husband, James of Raymond, NH; Chris Castiglione and his wife, Maureen of Tewksbury, MA; Anthony Castiglione of Salem, NH; David Castiglione and his partner, Mayumi Kimura of Temecula, CA; and Maria Thompson and her husband, Joseph of Haverhill, MA. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Joanne Castiglione-Minx and her husband, Gary of Hampton, NH; her brother-in-law, Manny Salesi of Lawrence; and several cherished cousins. She is preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Janis Salesi.
Diane’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Lawrence General ICU, Ann and Barbara from Pathways, Fresenius Kidney Care Merrimack Valley, and Dr. Michael Landman for the care and support provided to Diane and her family.
Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Diane's life by attending her calling hours from 4 – 7 PM on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at the Kenneth H.
