With profound sorrow, yet with faith in God’s promise of eternal life, we announce the passing of Virtudes Alvarez, who entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 13, 2026, at Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence.Born on July 29, 1941, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, she was the beloved daughter of the late Antonio Alvarez and Margarita Del Castillo. Virtudes began her professional life as a chemist in the Dominican Republic and later worked as a stitcher before retiring. In the 1980s, she settled in New York City, where she built a life centered on love and devotion to her three children and siblings. She eventually made her home in Massachusetts, where she remained until her passing. She found joy in reading and listening to music, had a fondness for sweets, and cherished every moment spent with her children, especially her grandchildren. A devoted parishioner of St. Patrick Parish in Lawrence, she lived her faith daily. Virtudes radiated generosity, resilience, and joy—qualities that defined her life and touched all who knew her. She is lovingly survived by her children: Julio Morales, Maria Morales, Vianela Morales-Meshini and her husband, Orlein, Omero Morales, Juan Antonio Morales, and Isabel Morales; her cherished grandchildren, Javier Alexander Morales, Avrill Marie Mercedes, and Liam Michael Meshini; and her dear siblings, Evangelina Alvarez, Dulce Maria Alvarez, Lucia Paniagua, Rafael Antonio Alvarez, and Francisco Antonio Alvarez. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members. At the request of the family there will be no calling hours. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at St. Patrick Parish, 118 S. Broadway in Lawrence. All guests are asked to meet directly at the church. Nació el 29 de Julio de 1941 en Santo Domingo, República Dominicana, y fue la amada hija de los ya fallecidos Antonio Álvarez y Margarita Del Castillo. Virtudes comenzó su vida profesional como química en la República Dominicana y posteriormente trabajó como costurera antes de jubilarse. En la década de 1980 se estableció en la ciudad de Nueva York, donde construyó una vida centrada en el amor y la dedicación a sus tres hijos y sus hermanos. Finalmente, hizo de Massachusetts su hogar, donde residió hasta su fallecimiento. Encontraba alegría en la lectura y en escuchar música, tenía predilección por los dulces y atesoraba cada momento compartido con sus hijos, especialmente con sus nietos. Fiel feligresa de la parroquia St. Patrick en Lawrence, vivía su fe día a día. Virtudes irradiaba generosidad, fortaleza y alegría—cualidades que definieron su vida y conmovieron a todos los que la conocieron. Le sobreviven con amor sus hijos: Julio Morales, María Morales, Vianela Morales-Meshini y su esposo Orlein, OMero Morales, Juan Antonio Morales, y Isabel Morales; sus queridos nietos, Javier Alexander Morales, Avrill Marie Mercedes y Liam Michael Meshini; y sus apreciados hermanos, Evangelina Álvarez, Dulce María Álvarez, Lucía Paniagua, Rafael Antonio Álvarez y Francisco Antonio Álvarez. También deja numerosos sobrinos, sobrinas y familiares extendidos que la amaron profundamente. A solicitud de la familia, no habrá horas de velatorio. La Misa de Sepelio Cristiano se celebrará a las 11:00 a. m. el sábado 2 de Mayo de 2026 en la parroquia St. Patrick, ubicada en 118 S. Broadway, en Lawrence.
