Richard W. "Dick" Parker

Richard (Dick) Winslow Parker, beloved husband of Mary Jean (Baldasaro) Parker for the past 58 years, passed away peacefully at his Methuen residence on August,22,2016. He was born in Norfolk, Virginia on July 30, 1932, the son of Robert Lincoln Parker and Ivy Elizabeth Ashcroft Appt Parker Lane, and relocated to Langdon, New Hampshire early in his youth. He was an alumnus of Kurn Hatten Boys School, a graduate of Vilas High School and attended Plymouth State Teachers College. A member of Labors International Union of North America, Local 175 for over 50 years, Dick retired in 1988. Possessing a strong work ethic, it was a profession that he thoroughly enjoyed and took great pride in. He was a strong supporter of youth athletics in the Methuen area as a coach for St. Monica?s basketball, and involvement in Methuen Little League and Pop Warner football for years. Blessed with a beautiful baritone voice, Dick got to spend his later years as a member of St. Monica?s Choir and the Happy Hearts Choral Group. His contributions and performances with these groups were always met with applause and appreciation. Dick is survived by his six children; Richard and his wife, Kathleen of Orwigsburg, PA, Robert and his wife, Ellie of Hopkinton, NH, James and his wife, Teresa of Danville, NH, John and his wife, Christine, of Methuen, Mass, Heidi of Methuen, Mass and Joseph and his wife, Cindy, of Windham, NH. Also, a brother, Thomas Reed of Crystal River, FL, 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Happy Hearts Choral Group, 77 Lowell St., Methuen, Mass. 01844 and the Daniel Metcalf Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 670, Alstead, NH 03602, attn Gail Rowe. A wake will be held at Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home on Thursday, August 25 from 4pm -8pm.
