Patricia "Pat" M. Hennessy

Patricia “Pat” M. Hennessy, 75, of Methuen, passed away on June 28, 2019 at Holy Family Hospital surrounded by her devoted family. Born on December 22, 1943 in Lawrence to the late Gilbert and Mary (Brouder) Hodge, she graduated from St. Mary’s High School with the Class of 1961. A woman who touched many hearts, Pat was the beloved matriarch of her family. She was a kind and generous soul who befriended everyone she met. Pat had a love for creating all things beautiful from crafting, gardening, and teaching her grandchildren how to paint. Pat worked for many years as a florist for Casey’s and Martin’s floral shops. One of the founding members for the Methuen Festival of Trees, she had a strong devotion to her community. A devout lifelong Catholic, Pat was a communicant for St. Monica’s Church. Known for her great sense of humor, she enjoyed many of the simple pleasures in life, camping, vacationing and visiting the “relatives”. Pat’s kindness, humbleness and generosity will forever be remembered, she touched many lives in many different circles and will fondly be loved and missed by all. Pat is survived by her beloved and inseparable husband, with who she celebrated 55 years of marriage, Michael W. Hennessy of Methuen. She was the dear mother to her five children; her daughter Patricia Neel and her husband Kevin, her daughter Mary Swiniarski, her son Michael W. Hennessy Jr, her daughter Sandy Charest and her husband Gary, all of Methuen, and her daughter Kathy Amiss and her husband Jason of Salem, NH. Pat was the cherished grandmother to her 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her two sisters, Maryann Cassidy of West Yarmouth, MA and Kathleen Menges of Littleton, CO and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her grandson Benjamin Amiss. Visitation for Pat will be held on Monday, July 1, 2019 from 4 – 8 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 11 AM at St. Monica’s Church, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, 130 North Lowell Street, Methuen.
