Marilyn Ratcliffe Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Marilyn C. Ratcliffe, 94 of Pelham, NH passed away peacefully on December 31, 2016 at Wingate of Haverhill. Marilyn was born December 29, 1922 in Methuen, MA. She was the cherished daughter of the late Walter and Clara (Herold) Eichorn. After graduating from Searles High School with the Class of 1940, Marilyn married her loving husband, the late Thomas Ratcliffe in March 27, 1943. Also after graduating from high school, Marilyn was employed as a mender at the Ayer Mill in Lawrence. Marilyn was known throughout the community of Methuen for being a safety advocate for children, she was one of the first school crossing guards. She helped to mold and define a job that never existed. Marilyn was employed for many years as a bank representative at the Lawrence Savings Bank until her retirement. Known for her fondness of animals, she loved her two babies, her cats Trixie and Emma. Marilyn was a member of the First Congregational Church in Pelham, NH. She enjoyed the peaceful and quiet hobbies of knitting, sewing, and reading. Marilyn enjoyed spending quality time with her family. Marylin is survived by her devoted daughter, Susan Mikutel and her husband Stanley of Pelham, NH. She was the loving grandmother to Christopher Mikutel and his wife Sharon of Hampstead, NH and Melissa Mavrofrides and her husband Michael of Bradford, MA. Marilyn was also the cherished great grandmother to Corinne Mikutel. She was the aunt to Marilyn Barry of Methuen, Kathleen Wetmore of Methuen, and Kevin Barry of Hampstead, NH. She was predeceased in death by her sister Arlene Barry. Visitation for Marilyn will be held Saturday, January 7, 2017 from 9:30-10:30 at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen, MA. Friends and relatives are cordially invited. A funeral service will immediately follow visitation.
