John M. Pattavina

John Pattavina passed away on March 7, 2025. After suffering a stroke in 2001, Johnny fought to rehabilitate to the point of living independently and was successful for many years. His strong will and determination allowed him to do that. Before his stroke, Johnny lived a full and happy life. He was educated at the Lawrence Public Schools and earned a bachelor’s degree from Boston College on June 2, 1969. Johnny and his brother, Sherm, owned Pattavina’s Restaurant. His memories of the restaurant years always had a special place in his heart. He loved working with his brother, nieces, and many others who became a family to him. When not at the restaurant, Johnny, enjoyed boating, fishing, skiing and tailgating at Boston College football games. He also enjoyed sporting events, family dinners and traveling to Key West and the Bahamas. Johnny loved spending time at the family beach house, especially on Sundays for big Italian dinners. He enjoyed spoiling his nephews particularly at the Salisbury center with unlimited rides and ice cream. John is preceded in death by his father, Charles Pattavina Sr., his mother, Serafina (Sally) DiGiovanni Pattavina, brother, Charles (Sherm) Pattavina Jr. and sister, Carol Pattavina. John leaves his three nieces, Ann Marie Pattavina-Sullivan and her husband, Edward Sullivan from Andover, Karla Bradley and her husband, Sean Bradley from Methuen, and Jill Fitzpatrick and her husband, James Fitzpatrick of Methuen; nephews, Nicholas, Joseph, Charles and Kevin. Nieces Kylie and Shauna. We would like to thank all the staff at Nevins Nursing Home for treating him like family. Peggy and Flo were with him for all his years there. Alicea from Beacon hospice has gone above and beyond for Johnny and the family. Johnny’s friends from Boston College continued to visit him until the very end. Special thanks to Hank for his visits multiple times a year. We are grateful for all of those who touched his heart in so many ways. At the request of the family, all services will be private.
