JoAnne P. Ciras

JoAnne P. Ciras of Derry, NH passed away on January 26, 2018. JoAnne was born in Lawrence, MA on April 18, 1945 to Alphonse C. Ciras and Irene L. Paquette Ciras. JoAnne attended Catholic Schools and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1963. Upon graduation JoAnne was a champion for independence and hard work and would go on to be very successful in management at a time in history when it was difficult for her gender to excel. Her hard work and perseverance led to a very satisfying career at NE Telephone and Nynex eventually retiring after 33 years of service at Verizon. She always had the right answers and the correct words to say. JoAnne never spoke a harsh word against anyone but, could clearly get her point across with the correct look. She loved knick-knacks and was the Queen of QVC. JoAnne was also an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. She loved to watch Judge Judy. JoAnne also loved to travel and even with her physical hindrance she always made the best of it. She had the strongest love for family and was especially gracious in sharing it with her niece and nephews. She will be missed by all who knew her. JoAnne is survived by life partner of 32 years, Allan Johnson of Derry, NH. Sister and brother in law Susan and Jay Costello of Windsor, CT, niece Shawna Amanatian of Boynton Beach, FL nephews, Stephen Amanatian of Bradford, MA, Zachary Costello of Boston, MA and Jonathan Costello of New Orleans, LA, aunt Rita Bellevance of Bridgeport, CT as well as many cousins. JoAnne was predeceased by her father Alphonse, her mother Irene, her brother in law Sarkis Amanatian and her sister, Sandra Amanatian. Other loved ones include Kim Johnson and partner Lee and Sophia Cunha of Lowell MA, Helen and Robert Asslin of Lowell MA, Barbara and Jack McQuade of Hudson, NH and Debbie and Frank Grinshaw of Lowell, MA, and Katherine and Brianna Molten of Bradford, MA. At the family’s request a private service has already been held. Memorial Contributions may be made in JoAnne’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
