Evelyn A. Schelling

Evelyn A. Schelling, 88 years, passed peacefully away at her daughter’s home in Lapeer, MI., Tuesday, March 6, 2018. She was born in Lawrence, MA on June 29, 1929, the last of 8 children to Cleophas and Eugenie (Jean) Caron. Evelyn shared a loving marriage of 68 years with her husband, Donald, who passed away last October, 2017. Evelyn worked for the State of MA, Division of Employment Security, as a job placement counselor until her retirement. While working and raising her family, she earned her Associate Degree from Northern Essex Community College. Evelyn was totally devoted to her family. She was an avid reader, played the piano, loved playing cards with her family and friends, walking for exercise, wintering in Florida, and watching her favorite EWTN television station. She was a former Communicant of Our Lady of Good Council – St. Theresa’s Parish of Methuen. Evelyn leaves her daughters; Karen (Barry) Fitzgerald of Newburyport, MA, Patricia (Donald) Dube of Lapeer, MI, Mary (Robert) Montbleau of Melbourne, FL, and son Michael Schelling of Pelham, N.H., eight devoted grandchildren; David (Kristin) Dube, Matthew (Amber) Dube, James (Michelle) Fitzgerald, Katy Fitzgerald, Michael (Stephanie) Donohue, Kristina, Amanda, and Laura Schelling and 6 great-grandchildren, Ian, Carlee, Cole, Elise, Henry and Evelyn, sisters-in-law Marcelle Rochon and Margarite "Peg" Schelling, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her husband Donald, and her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her siblings and their spouses Jean (Howie) Schmidt, Aleida (Robert) Cory, Claire (Roland) Archambault, Theresa (Roger) Vaillancourt, Rene (Helen) Caron, Raymond (Alice) Caron, Lionel Caron, and Brothers-in-law Edmond Schelling, Roland (Simone) Schelling, and Henry Rochon. The family would like to thank the caring and compassionate staff of Alternative Elderly Care and Hometown Home, Health & Hospice, MI. Friends and guests are invited to call on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Good Council - St. Theresa's Parish, 22 Plymouth St. Methuen.
