Elizabeth A. Leonard

Elizabeth Ann (Brosnan) Leonard, 94, passed peacefully with her daughters by her side on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. Born and raised in Lowell, MA, she was the daughter of the late Cornielus and Catherine Brosnan. Elizabeth was a graduate of St. Rita’s High School and went on to earn her RN at St. John’s Hospital in Lowell, MA. She was a proud veteran who served our country during the Korean War as an LTJG Naval nurse. She continued her nursing career at many nursing homes prior to becoming a school nurse in the Methuen School System. Elizabeth had a deep spiritual faith and was an active parishioner at St. Monica and St. Lucy Parish in Methuen. She was a member of the Lady’s Sodality of St. Lucy’s and a Eucharistic Minister who also serve the homebound. In Elizabeth’s free time, she became an accomplished seamstress and later formed B + W Upholstery. She loved trips to the beach and spending time with family and friends. Elizabeth’s lifetime of good health was characterized by avid daily walks, common sense nutrition, and moderation in all things. She was a beloved wife to the late LTC James J. Leonard. A devoted mother to her eight daughters: Eileen and the late David Holm, Kathleen and Daniel Cargill, Elizabeth and William Stantial, Winifred and James VanLandingham, Ann Leonard-House and Jeffrey House, MaryEllen Leonard (pre-deceased), Julie and Scott Descoteaux, and Christine and Todd Drevitch. In addition, she leaves behind eighteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, September 6, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 12:30 PM at St. Monica Parish, 212 Lawrence Street in Methuen with military honors to follow.
