Cipriano "Chip" Sacchiero

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cipriano “Chip” Sacchiero, age 83, on the morning of November 11, 2017, surrounded by his loving family in his home in Methuen, MA. Chip was married 53 years to the love of his life Virginia (Castro) Sacchiero. Chip was born and raised in Arzignano, Italy, a small town in the province of Vicenza, close to Venice. He was the youngest of 9 children of the late Attilio and Erminia (Marca) Sacchiero. He spent his childhood joyfully playing soccer, and riding his bicycle and motorcycle to be with his large family all over beautiful Italy. After his schooling, Chip served in the Alpine Regiment, Italy’s military, for 2 years. He was honorably discharged to care for his ailing elderly parents. Chip met his wonderful wife Virginia “Ginny”, an American, in the US, and they later married in beautiful Locarno, Switzerland where they lived and worked for 2 years. They relocated to Methuen, and raised three wonderful children there together, Bob, Marisa and Julie. Chip spent many years working in Quality Control for a circuit board manufacturer. He was uniquely inventive, and won several awards for product design and improvement. Outside of work, Chip loved socializing, and was extremely generous with his time and unique mechanical talents. He constantly found ways to help his family, friends, and neighbors, and tackled difficult home and car projects even after the age of 80. He could design and repair anything. Above all else, Chip loved spending time with his family, and did that almost every weekend, including summers at the ocean. When his children were young, he attended all their sporting events. He was an avid videographer his whole life, who captured every family event on film from baptisms to birthdays to baseball games. Watching decades of celebrations brought and continues to bring his immediate family and large family in Italy great joy. He spent lots of time advising his children and grandchildren, and enjoying life with them through great food and Italian music, long talks, working on projects and gardens together, and constant love and laughter. Chip is survived by his loving wife Ginny of Methuen, MA. His son Robert and his grandsons Marcello and Antonio Sacchiero of Hudson, MA; His daughter Marisa Sacchiero Olson of Acton, MA, his Son-in-law, George Olson and his grandsons Zachary Lawrence and Nicholas Cipriano Olson, of Acton, MA; His daughter Julie Ann Sacchiero of Boston, MA. Chip also leaves many loving cousins, nieces and nephews all over Italy, including 3 great nieces, he saw recently in Italy, Iraria, Emily and Galia. Friends and guests are invited to call on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St., Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel-St. Theresa’s Parish, 22 Plymouth Street, Methuen, on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Per the Family’s request, interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Chip’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Ave. Waltham, MA 02451.
