Amy Jo (Stockwell) Freeman Our one of-a-kind daughter, sister, wife, mother, Nana, and friend died unexpectedly on June 29, 2022 at the age of 59. Amy was born June 13, 1963 to Lovern (Elliott) and Kenneth Stockwell in Bangor, Maine, and grew up surrounded by a large, loving, extended family, graduating for Bangor High School in 1981. Amy moved to New Hampshire in 1990, and in 1996 was a founding employee at the Bank of New England, where she continued to work for the next 26 years. Amy was so fun and full of life, and was always adventuresome, determined, kind, competitive, down-to-earth, (stubborn, brutally honest, and oftentimes unintentionally hilarious). Amy and Carrie Stockwell absolutely loved being sisters and treasured their true friendship. Throughout her life Amy enjoyed swimming, square dancing, track, volleyball, cheerleading, camping, and hunting with her Dad, and she moved mountains to be there cheering at all of her kids’ and grandkids’ important milestones and sporting events. She loved to laugh, would offer a helping hand at a moment’s notice, provided amazing leadership in a number of organizations and communities, and never encountered a snowball fight she wouldn’t join or a driveway (read: ½ mile road) she wouldn’t clear with a snowblower alone. Amy was loved and admired by so many. She was her family’s biggest cheerleader, while also holding their feet to the fire – there was no messing with this Momma Bear. In recent years Amy found a passion that matched her personality, and gave her an independence she always felt inside: riding her motorcycle. Pairing this with her love for philanthropy, Lady Amy raised funds for each mile ridden for the Shriners Hospitals for Children’s Wheels for LOVE program (riding over 20,000 miles in 2021 alone!), which provides adaptive wheelchairs and bicycles to children facing difficult medical conditions. Amy felt this was some of her most important work in life, allowing children to enjoy the milestones of childhood and have a sense of adventure, a taste of independence, and a chance to build self-confidence. We know that Amy is enveloped by the love of her dad Kenneth Stockwell, who passed before her. She is survived by her mum Lovern Stockwell, her sister Carrie (Scott) Stafford, and her husband John Freeman, and their five boys who she loved fiercely: Jeffrey (Ashley) and Jason (Cara-Leigh) Boucher, and Jonathan, Brandon (Stacey), and Peter Freeman. Amy’s six grandchildren Jackson, Evelyn, Tyler, Noelle, Sullivan, and Hudson will miss their dear Nana (Banana) more than words can say. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters-in-law, friends, and colleagues who loved her dearly.
